‘Melonia’, the world’s first pair of wearable printed shoes. A creation of two Stockholm students, Naim Josefi and Souzan Youssouf, the Melonia shoes made their debut at Stockholm Fashion Week back in February.
Spindly, skeletal and a little bit scary looking, these shoes open up a whole new creative avenue for commercial fashion. Whilst 3D printing techniques have, up until now, been used mainly for creating fiddly industrial parts, this new aesthetic experiment means that a more fashionable potential is being seen for the technique. Who knows where it could lead?!
